Web Developer and Designer

JOB SUMMARY

The Web Developer – Designer is responsible for the development and design of major and minor Web application and components for internal and external customers of the Company. The developer will design, develop, test and deliver web sites, applications, and components. The developer will have the ability to create web applications and components from the requirements stage, through design, through production development. They will be required to have experience in graphics, layout, scripting, programming, as well as development involving compatibility and seamless integration with various technologies such as, but not limited to, PHP, ASP, Java, C, or VB.

Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to learn quickly in various technical and creative environments, while delivering quality work by tight deadlines, are key attributes of this individual.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop new Web applications as identified by supervisor and management through packaged and customized applications.
  • Create a company-wide Intranet, allowing data manipulation for each internal staff member.
  • Maintain and enhance existing Web applications and all internal systems are integrated.
  • Perform complete testing of Web applications unit and system, engaging users as necessary.
  • Conduct all user acceptances testing, and report results.
  • Design and implement user-driven templates, databases and interfaces for ease of use.
  • Develop database-driven Web interfaces for rapid, real-time information sharing.
  • Develop external Web portals allowing users to input and retrieve accurate information.
  • Participate in dynamic priority setting sessions as the summer season unfolds.
  • Candidate must be a team player and willing to teach and to learn.
  • Convert raw images and layouts from a graphic designer into CSS/XHTML themes
  • Write the programming code, either from scratch or by adapting existing website software and graphics packages to meet business requirements
  • Test the website and identify any technical problems
  • Upload the site onto a server and register it with different search engines.

KNOWLEDGE:
Essential:
  • Proficient in Internet related applications such as E-Mail clients, FTP clients and Web Browsers
  • Proficient in Office
Desirable:
  • Have skills in software programming and graphics
  • Have creativity and imagination
  • Be adaptable and able to pick up new techniques
GENERAL SKILLS/ ATTRIBUTES:
Essential:
  • Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
Desirable:
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be thorough and precise in their work

EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
  • 3 years minimum experiences in development of HTML/XHTML, and CSS
  • 2 years minimum Web programming experience, including PHP, ASP or JSP
  • 1 year minimum experience working with relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL or Oracle and a good working knowledge of SQL
  • Be aware of international web standards and protocols
Desirable:
  • Experiences in SEO Management and web advertising.
  • Experiences in graphics creation with Photoshop, Illustrator, Firework ( Adobe Creative Suites ) or other similar graphics editor software
  • Experiences in animation creation with Flash, Shockwave ( Macromedia ) or other similar graphics editor software
  • Experiences with Silverlight web development
EDUCATION:
Essential:
BS in computer science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience
